Hello everyone.
I know this is an theme that has been talked many things.
However, I continue having some doubts and would like to know your opinion.

Everyone knows that most Leicas M6, classic and TTL, have the top plate of zinc and no brass. Practically all but some special editions in black paint and 999 last made (not sure if all 999)

Some cameras have developed bubbles on the surface of the top plate.

I would like to know your opinion on the following 3 questions:

1. Is this a general problem of all LEICA M6 by the use of zinc? or instead, is only a problem of some units in which the manufacturing process is not performed correctly?

2. What percentage of cameras do you think are (or will be) affected?

3. If actually, a leica M6 shows no signs of the problem, do you think there is little chances of having the problem?

Thank you very much and (as always) sorry for my bad english.

In point one, when i say if is a general problem, i want to say if all made cameras have the potencial issue and is question of time, elements or bad luck develop the bubbles.

Forgetaboutit and buy one already 😉

But seriously. If you can find a clean M6 with no bubbles then I doubt it would develop any now.

As far as percentages of cameras affected? I don't think there are any unless Leica themselves knows more.
M Owners are reluctant to part with their gear when it working well so for aesthetic stuff like this they tend to be very forgiving... Well, I know I am anyway.

FWIW... I've seen it on R4s to R7 cameras more frequently than the Ms.
