I recently picked up a nice Kiev 4a-- what a fun camera this is!
I already have a very nice 35mm Canon ltm lens. Is there an adapter available that will allow me to mount this lens on the Kiev? I've searched the forums, but I can't find anything that addresses this combination.
TIA

Never heard of one. If it was available,it would require
that you leave the KIEV locked at infinity and "guess focus"

Ah, so much negativity!
What we haven't heard about yet is the Jupiter-12 35/2.8 lens that is available in Kiev/Contax mount. And it is quite a bit cheaper in that mount....A nice LTM version of the J-12 is easily $100+ nowadays. The Kiev mount version is perhaps $50-60?
Then you would have a very nice 35mm lens to add to your Kiev kit and not be in the hole for very much money. And then.....you could search out a nice little Zorki-C for that Canon lens you already have. I find the Zorki-C to be one of the most underappreciated FSU bodies out there. They're reliable because they don't have a slow speed setup. They're on the small side and "pocketable" if you have big pockets. You can set the shutter speed whenever you want (before or after winding). They play nice with most LTM lenses. The viewfinder....well...its plenty good compared with a squinty Leica IIIa.
Sorry. This was about Kiev. Get a Jupiter-12 in Kiev mount. Problem solved.

Oh, I guess Johan suggested a J-12. Then I guess I second that suggestion.

Me too. they are great lenses, and cost next to nothing in Kiev mount. Don't pay more than $50.

Thanks, everyone. I had sort of suspected that such an adapter didn't exist, but it was worth a shot. If I decide I need a 35 for the Kiev, I'll look for the Juptier-12 as you suggested.
As far as the fun factor with the Kiev? I will probably get lambasted for this, but I'm enjoying this Kiev even more than my M2 (which is where the Canon lens usually lives).
I am absolutely *hooked* on the focus wheel!

Here's a 1976 LTM J-12 on a Contax II. It can be done, with genuine Contax parts too - but no infinity focus unfortunately. An FFD of 34.85mm can't shrink to 28.8mm.
I often wondered what Zeiss made this adapter for, other than annoying other Contax collectors 80 years later...

It exists? That's just weird.
The OP seems to really like the Kiev experience. Interesting how people really split on that and either love it or hate it. I found it very difficult to get used to the "Contax hold", and the infinity lock on the focus wheel just made it harder for me. Needless to say, I have a beautiful Kiev 4A and J-8 that almost never see use. The only reason it sees use at all is my copy of the J-8. Possibly the sharpest rangefinder 50 I have. And I have a few

I find the Kievs a bit awkward to use too but it's worth it for the pros the camera has. If you think the J-8 is sharp, you should really buy yourself a Helios-103 for that 4A. Just don't tell everyone when you get the results back. The OP seems to really like the Kiev experience. Interesting how people really split on that and either love it or hate it. Contax to ltm adapter and reverse exist, to be able to use lenses on enlargers... At the time, it was not unusual to use one lens for taking and developing pictures. Zeiss Ikon had a Contax mount enlarger.
