Hello everybody,

I just recently relocated to the U.S. (south Florida) and I have some film (c-41) that I would like to get developed and scanned. I was recently in NYC and it was around 30 USD to get a roll developed and scanned, coming from Bangkok, those prices are a little high.

I was wondering what labs you send your film to to get decent developing and scans. I just did a quick google search and realized there are some labs in my area but they are quite expensive, so I would like to know what my options are in terms of good quality film labs in the U.S.

I am contemplating switching over to B&W and developing and scanning the rolls myself, but I am sitting on some color rolls from Tokyo and NYC that i would like to get developed and scanned pretty soon.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

cheers, michael

edit: I just saw that one of the RFF sponsors (Precision Camera) offers developing and scanning for 11.99 a roll.

The Darkroom, in California.

Jim B.

I gotta say no to them. They’ve ruined film of mine, sent back crappy scans, had technical issues which caused delays - w/o refunding payment for rush service. never again.

I use northcoastphoto, thefindlab or dwaynesphoto if I dont scan it myself.

Hi, Michael,
Next time you are in Atlanta, give me a shout!:)

Film? Right now I am using a local lab at about $20/roll. I forget.., but I am using Dwayne's now for slide film and such. I highly recommend Dwayne's!:)

Or when they occasionally process E-6 in C-41 chemistry...

I have recently given Adrian Bacon in California a try. Magnificent work, and huge DNG scans. A friend had him run some 120 for her, and was equally impressed.

Dales in Hollywood, Florida. They're close to Miami.
60 Minute Photo, West Palm Beach.
There's a place in Tampa. Forget the name.

Although I'm local, I got used during the Kodachrome days to sending C41 stuff to Dwaynes in Kansas. Now we mostly shoot B&W, develop and scan at home.

+1 for Dwayne's Photo. They have been great to deal with and do good work at a reasonable price.

@steveyork—I don't know of any decent labs in Tampa, but if you happen to remember the name, please let me know. There is a lab called Zebra Color in St. Petersburg that did a good job for a few rolls for me several years ago, but I no longer work near there so it's more convenient to just mail my stuff off to Dwayne's.

That's them -- Zebra Color. Tampa or St. Pete, all the same to us over here on the east coast. :)
