Hi Canadian film fans!
I am attaching a copy of an email I sent to Silvano's Imaging (Toronto) regarding 120 film. I spoke with them today on the phone regarding 120 and they said they can get tri-x for $3.09 Canadian a roll! I said "giddyap!"
I was then informed it could take months and they couldn't even tell me how much would arrive and when (I was trying to order 100 rolls). When I suggested they work on that they advised me to email Silvano himself.
So here's the email. If you could send him a note yourself It might make this farfetched dream a reality!

"Hi Silvano,
I wanted to drop you a line regarding what was a bit of a frustrating conversation I had with your film department. Before I go any further there was a very, very tempting ray of hope in that conversation! That is the reason I am emailing you.
I work on 120 film and was recently asking around the internet forums if their was a Canadian dealer who could compete with Freestyle photographic supply out of California. Pretty much all the film shooters order their supplies through there. So, much to my surprise someone mentioned Silvano's and I rang up the store. When the lady told me tri-x at $3.09 a roll (I was going to order 100 rolls) I was ecstatic. That is about what it would cost me to buy no name b+w 120 out of Freestyle and get it shipped and through customs. I was thrilled and more than happy to shop local. That's where the frustrating part started. the lady on the phone seemed quite uncertain how long it would take or whether it would arrive in the full amount etc. She mentioned it could take 2-3 months, or MORE!
Now I guess my point is this. I know many, many film shooters in this neck of the woods who would be absolutely stunned to know they could pick up tri-x 120 for $3.09 a roll in Canada. Not the 2-3 rolls at a time types either. I was hoping that someone on your end could put a little work into the "flow" issues with this. The lady mentioned it was one supplier at that price and they were spotty at best in delivery. If someone at Silvano's could put a little work into speeding this process up and providing folks with clear understanding of wait times etc. I am sure Silvano's could have some business in their hands. I would be happy to drop a note with some of the groups on the internet such as...
www.rangefinderforum.com (who's largest concentration of members in in the Toronto region)
www.lightstalkers.com (a pro photojournalist site)
www.photo.net (the center of the photography universe on the net so the photo.net users say)
I will gladly give it a couple of days before I place my order with Freestyle as I would really, really prefer to deal local. If you feel as though this is something you would want to pursue iI will make as much noise as I can (as well as order loads of film).
Warmest Regards
