I have just received a 50mm DR f2 Summicron which has been in the family for at least 40 years.

The s/n is 19850xx

Is there anyway to accurately pinpoint the year of production?

BTW it is clear as glass. No hazing. A tad stiff focusing, but otherwise looks to be perfect.

What they said. I have a slightly older cousin, 1961. Stunning images assuming I do the lens justice. 😀

Do you have the close focusing goggles? Read Steven Gandy's write up on the DR at Camerquest.

As I posted before, it should mount and focus correctly, sans eyes, on the R-D1 with no problems.

And it does! Thanks for that.

I am surprised how heavy it is! This is the second DR 'Cron we had in the family, the first being included with a dual stroke M3 that my Dad bought in 1962 from a friend.

This one as I recall was purchased used at Peerless Willoughbys when it was near the Chrysler building. I don't think we had the eyeglasses for this one, but did for the older one which got stolen years ago.

1963 . . . You guys are amazing! THANKS!
