I tried APX 400 in Rodinal @1:100 - didn't like it a bit, got foggy muddy negs, ugly grain. Tried it @1:75, no better.

Then ended up with a roll of APX mixed in by mistake with several rolls of Tri-X, and didn't notice it was Agfa until it came out of the Rodinal @1:50 tank at Tri-X time. Wonderful tonality, not bad grain, just like the APX fans say.

So, another batch of APX in Rodinal 1:50 at Tri-X time... ugly foggy grainy muddy negs. Hmhhh...

The "good" negs were shot in daylight, all the "bad" negs under tungsten. The spectral curve for APX seems to have a lot of blue sensitivity compared to Tri-X.

Has anyone experimented with daylight/ tungsten EI's and dav times with APX 400? Is it a "better for daylight" emulsion? Or rate it at 200 for tungsten?
