AFAIK, there were no factory black Kievs--they are all stripped and painted later. That's what Yuri says on his site, anyway.

Regardless of the color of the paint, it's the camera beneath that matters, so as long as it's working correctly, a black-paint Kiev should be fine.

Get one from Fedka if you're in the US--it will be in good working shape. He always has a black body or two around.

The Fed are a different story. Fed 2s were made with varying colors of vulcanite skin. Red (looks almost brown), dark blue...mine is green and clearly original.
