Yes ... I was just suppose to withdraw some money...
Yes ... I thought it would be good to buy some film ...
Yes ... The shop was just on the other side of the street ...
Yes ... I could go eat a bit later ...
Of course ... I went to check for cameras
Of course ... The Carl Zeiss Flektogon 4/50 MC for Pentacon Six was too expensive
Of course ... I went to check if there were some Jupiter-12 for Zorki/Fed
Of course ... They all were for Kiev ....
And ... of course ...
I am now the proud owner of a Kiev-II with a Jupiter-8 F/2-50 and a Jupiter-12 F/2.8-35 !!!!
I'm so happy!
The camera is in perfect shape and I've never seen a brighter focusing area on any RF before, it's even better than on my Zorki-4! The camera has a solid look and feel, and I believe that it is my new companion that will come with me in Brittany for holidays, instead of my Fed-3 or Zorki-4!
I'm really, really impressed!

Take both, J-8 on the Zorki and J-12 on the Kiev.
Gongrats on some VERY nice gear. I haven't got a "II" but I dearly like my 4a and 4 cameras!
Good shooting on your trip!

Thank you! I've both of them in my hands... alas, both lenses are contax mount, so they won't fit into my zorki and fed's

Ah! If I was "wannabe", I'd try to get the markings done " à la Contax " ... but no, it's okay, I love it how it is! My local retail store has an original Contax in good shape, I think for about 170$. I might check it some day, if only I ever stop myself!

Thanks Eugene... and by the way, since you know Kiev's so well, I noticed that the J-12 seems to be coupling with the Kiev RF sensor, is it normal ? I ask because I had a J-9, but on LTM, that wasn't coupling with the RF sensor. Thanks!
I'll try to post a photo of the baby soon, with my KMZ universal viewfinder

All Kiev lenses except Orion-15 6/28 are indeed rangefinder-coupled. LTM J-9 should couple to the rangefinder as well; if not, it is probably a malfunction.

Oops, what I meant: Take the Zorki or FED with its LTM 50mm lens and the Kiev with the 35mm...darkkavenger said:Thank you! I've both of them in my hands... alas, both lenses are contax mount, so they won't fit into my zorki and fed's
But since the Kiev and lenses are "new" you'll want to try 'em out(I certainly would)so : your favorite LTM camera and he Kiev and BOTH lenses. (anything else I should have you carry on your trip?

hmm... I think I'll be bringing around my FED-3 type B fitted with my FED-5B's Industar-61 L/D ... or maybe the Zorki-4... probably the Zorki-4. It has a fresh roll of PAN400 in it... of course i'll mount the I-61 L/D on it. Oh and probably my Pentacon Six with its TTL prism, if I get to reassemble the MC Biometar type III 2.8 / 80 lens from Carl Zeiss Jena, I disassembled it to fix a little problem with blades. If not, my faithful Meopta Flexaret IIIb TLR will follow me too
Can't live without rangefinders and MF cams

I'm impressed! Well my J-9 looks weird indeed. I had disassembled it, and I'm now on the process of trying to remount it ...

i'm thinking of a sonnar, but not the one you think about ...
i'm more thinking about a CZJ MC Sonnar 4/300 or a Sonnar 2.8/180 for my Pentacon Six
but that'll be after the Carl Zeiss Jena MC Flektogon 4/50

Forget the CZJ 300/4 Sonnar - this one is just too huge and heavy to lug around (just get a Telear 250/5.6 or a 2x or 1.4x Russian converter, if you really need such a long lens). But do get the 180/2.8 Sonnar - this is one of the best portrait lenses in the history of photography! BEST BOKEH EVER! Rather low contrast, and a bit receprtive to flare when shooting into the light, though... The 180/2.8 Sonnar was the only reason why I kept my P6TL even after I got a Mamiya 645Super.

Roman: the 180/2.8 Sonnar is probably what I'll get right after the Flektogon ... oh my ..and another sonnar 1.5/50 for Contax mount ... *faints*
Popitz : I've noticed a Contax II for sale at this shop, it will certainly be a future member of my crew

I have been very happy with the Telear 250 on my Arax Kiev 60! Small for its focal length and uses the same filters as the 80mm std lens.Roman said:Forget the CZJ 300/4 Sonnar - this one is just too huge and heavy to lug around (just get a Telear 250/5.6 or a 2x or 1.4x Russian converter, if you really need such a long lens). The next lens I want to get for this camera is the 150mm Kaleinar. I haven't seen many 1.4x converters-- they seem to be pretty uncommon.
I think Arax(and others too?) sells an adaptor so you can use P6 mount lenses on your Mamiya, Roman.

Yep, when I first got the Mamiya, I used the CZJ lenses on it with the adapter (which I got from Arax); that's quite OK when using the camera for static shots, landscapes, etc. But manual stopdown for spontaneous protraits (e.g. with the Sonnar on the Mamiya) is just too much of a hassle - once you have opened up, focussed and stopped down again, the perfect moment usually has passed (just like with most consumer-grade digicams, but for different reasons).
So I did get original Mamiya lenses for the 645 over time - I now have the 35, 70 and 150, and still use the Telear with adapter for landscape shots; the Mamiya lenses are much smaller and lighter (that's why I got into the Mamiya system in the first place - hauling two Pentacon 6 bodies, and a set of lenses - usually 50 Flek, and 80 & 120 Biometars up on steep mountain trails just got to stenuous...).
I still like the results from the Flektogon, Biometar and Sonnars, though, that's why I'm not selling them (OK, I will sell one of the P6 bodies some time, I guess) - I just use them where I don't have to carry the system too far.
