Is banality what is meant by 'democratic' way?
Eggleston's definition of "democracy" in his photography was that all subjects were approached the same and treated with equal importance. If the news story is correct (given they misspelled "Canon" in the article, that might be optimistic), Eggleston's approach to music would be the same.

I wasn't being snarky, his photos have been described a banal. And I agree it is, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. You have to be very clever to be artistic with banal subjects.
