am i not scanning correctly? too much grain from superia

hi - i just had a some fuji superia 400 developed. my scans are all quite grainy (see attachment) where i did not expect them to be.

this is scanned with a coolscan V ED, using nikon scan 4, 4000dpi, ICE on, and otherwise default settings.

is this an expected amount of grain for superia, or am i doing something wrong?

It looks fine from that little JPEG.

What magnification are you looking at? If you're looking at 50/100% at 4000dpi scan then you will see lots of grain, I was suprised myself when I started scanning in 400 C41 film on my V ED. It goes away as you downsize for printing.

Superia 400 is grainy and skies are grainy anyway (don't know why).
