Amazon.jp delivered this hood via DHL to suburban Chicago two days after ordering for only about $6 shipping - the removal of VAT pretty much offset the shipping costs. Amazon.jp now has English language available on their site, and you can pay in $US avoiding foreign currency fees on your credit card.

It's a UN Company UNX-8133 square hood with cap in 39mm thread, and it fits the 27/2.8 perfectly with no vignetting that I can see. This plastic with metal threads hood screws on, and then you can index the hood on the mount using two tiny set screws. It's lower profile than the tilted hood I was using, and I prefer the cap design.

It's not cheap (about $60US delivered), but it is a very high quality hood and cap. Here are two phone pics of it mounted on my 27/2.8:

(The hood is symmetrical, the top down photo angle is distorting things, the hood edge in the center of the frame is rendered accurately)

I just popped the lens on my X-Pro2, and there is no OVF intrusion into the brightline frame with the hood mounted directly to the lens. Adding a filter under it might change this just slightly - the hood is not threaded to accept filters.

This is the best 27mm hood option I've found so far!

but expensive.
i has a tiny screw in hood for my last copy of this lens and it looked ridiculous...this one looks pretty good.
i have not found the lens needed it though...sorta like the old canon 35/2 lens.

Yeah, expensive - but what the heck, it's no worse that Fuji's own vented hood for the 23/2 and 35/2. I've actually experienced flare with my 27 so I feel a hood is needed.

I took it apart last night when I mounted a filter and needed to reindex the hood on the ring, and the ring is a beautifully done turning. Not cheaply made at all.

They make other sizes, too.

Thanks for sharing! I just this evening changed out the 27mm f 2.8 off of my X Pro 2 for a mint 18mm f2 that I found on CL. I imagine though I will keep and use the 27 again....it's a very nice lens. David
