I found this in my mailbox today. Amazing that the post makes deliveries on New Year's Day,
Upon opening the box I found the price tag, blank warranty card, and instructions. Also in the top was the neck strap, still wrapped in paper
In the box I found a shiny new camera in a shiny new case,
Amazingly, the original paper slip that fits between the pressure plate and film plane rails was still in place,
But perhaps the most interesting thing is that I found two of them,
I spent the last couple of hours removing the old seals and replacing them with the original foam rubber. Amazingly, both power up and work perfectly. Unfortunately, they are too nice to shoot...

Nice cameras. I was just wondering why you replaced the foam if you don't intend to keep them for actual use?
I have often been fascinated by people who like and use these cameras. But them I am not big on the use of FFL RF cameras even though I have several.
But, those you have are surely a great find.

I like these old cameras, and it's nice to find the occasional new one. So far I have found a new CCN, a GTN, and a black GX, as well as an FC, and a black MC. There are countless small camera shops around Japan, and many of them have little traeasures hidden away.
I replace the old foam because it causes corrosion. You can see a bit of it in the last pic. I plan to keep one of these, and sell the other, I dont need two silver ones.
As for shooting with the old fixed lens cameras, I don't use them that often. But when I do run a roll through them and see the results, I wonder why I don't shoot with them more.

As Bill58 already said, you are a lucky guy! Congratulations for your find and Happy New Year.
I'd love to 'hunt' on those small camera shops throughout Japan... I can only dream about little treasures of bygone days forgotten in hidden corners, gathering dust for years and years...

If I'm going out to shoot with an FFL RF, and feel I need a little wider lens, I'll take along a good P&S 35mm, such as the Nikon L35AF, or an Olympus Stylus. Or I'll just take more exposures, and stitch them together in PSE. But to me, the GX is just the best handling camera I've ever owned, even if it is Aperture Priority Automatic. Good find, Jeff, and Happy New Year!

Congratulations, Frontman. And, happy new year.
To others reading: I met Frontman a couple years ago, and I can assure you he's not just lucky. He's very serious about his camera shopping. Tokyo is the place to do it.

What an amazing find!
I'm currently going through my first roll in a GX and thoroughly enjoying using it.

That body looks incredibly similar to cabinet 28. Does anyone know if there is a similar lineage here?

Like all those budget fixed lens rangefinders back then (I mean non-Leica + fixed lens) ? It's like saying all cars have similar lineage - body, four wheels, doors
