Drunk the RF Kool Aid
OK Gang: here's the deal.
-Currently own a V500, which is mostly kinda/sorta adequate for my purposes for scanning 6x7 negatives, given that I'm mostly shooting B&W and mostly getting anything "serious" wet printed. Scans are mostly for web use, but its nice to be able to print every now and again.
-I just borrowed a V700 for a few months and saw a definite improvement. Now I had to give it back.
-I'm shooting a lot more 35mm now that I finally have a Leica, and found the V700 to be inconsistent in quality mostly due to the negative holders. Some of my scans were surprisingly good for a flatbed, while other times I fussed endlessly and was never satisfied.
-I'm using a Mac, and have read somewhere that this affects the software available to me for the 7600.
Given this information, I'm looking at three options:
1. Upgrade to a V700 (I'm skeptical as to whether the 750 is worth the premium, esp given that I won't do much wet mounting)
2. Get a Plustek 7600 and keep the V500 for my medium format
3. Wait and see if Plustek comes out with a reasonable machine to do both formats, or see if the reviews on that other new 120/35 scanner are solid.

Plustek 7600 is manual feed you will be scanning 1 frame at a time.
The results are excellent for the price though. The loader is sturdy and excellent
V700 is about twice the price of plustek but it is not a dedicated film scanner. That said, i cannot see the difference. The v700 can loan 24 frames to scan at once and you can go have a coffee in the 45mins it takes. The v700 has some poor plastic loading frames but some third party glass frames are available.
