So sad. I guess when it's over it's over.
I wasn't there at the start of his YouTube journey. And, I'm not familiar with Marrten Heilbron at all actually. So, for me it was over before it began.
I appreciate OTL Cheers for bringing this sad situation to my attention. Thank you, Peter, thank you very much.
All the best,
Mike

Check him out. He posted some very good tutorials on a variety of Fuji cameras. Cheers, OtL

With fewer digital cameras being introduced, and fewer loaners available for review, the marketing departments have to be more selective about which reviewers get the loaners. Those reviewers with a greater following are going to go to the top of the list, leaving those with a lesser following out of the game. The guy in the video said he was going to shift to reviewing other consumer products, so hopefully he will be able to continue to earn a living.Maybe. I liked his style. Cheers, OtL

Across the board, not just photography, people who tried to keep their subscribers happy with constant new content are just getting burned out.
Also, the stress of fielding a lot of abusive comments, sometimes because someone doesn't like what you've reviewed, or it could be something completely unrelated to the video.

There are reviewers who gush over every new product and they get invited expenses paid to Wetzler and elsewhere to try out equipment for a few hours apparently enough time to publish a rave review. Sometimes you need to read between the lines like when they start go into touchy feelies like user experience, simplicity, back to basics then you know this guy will give a positive review on a $2000 audiophile power cable if he needs to.

Sorry to hear i guess but he never appeared on my radar so I can't judge what kind of reviewer he was. Some (a small minority IMHO) actually relate how a camera is to use as a picture making tool, but most just fuel the never ending upgrade cycle that keeps the market buying. They aren't telling you what's great about a camera, so much as they're telling you why your camera sucks and you need to buy another one. If he was one of the good reviewers it's bad news.
