Ansel Adams Exhibit

I was in Carmel some years back and the Mrs at the time wanted to shop so I strolled into the Weston galley there and started talking to the curator about Adams. Edward Weston Cole and Brett. She asked if I would like to see some portfolios of Adams and Weston (both Cole and Brett) and I told her that I couldn't afford any of the work and she said that as I could see at 10:30 AM they weren't real busy and she loves to look at work and talk about it to. So I spent several hours there looking at work out of the archival sleeves with nothing between my eyes and those WONDERFUL prints. I got to see an original limited edition of Yosemite and Range of Light worth at the times A LOT...

Adams prints and Edward Weston also can be very humbling. What a wonderful experience.

I to have seen several Adams exhibits besides that amazing experience. Andrew Smith Gallery in Santa Fe usually has some Adams on display. His work, especially if he printed it, is always worth some time and always time well spent.

I don't know about you but I'm really not a fan of this type of photography (I go to them because my friend loves them). BUT when you see and 8x10 contact print done by Edward Weston or an enlarged 4x5 done by AA, you are certainly humbled.

Amen. I got to see a straight Moonrise along with a final version plus Adams' notes on dodging and burning. I was awestruck.
