My Olympus XA had one, but it died
My XA2 doesn't and I keep encountering situations where it was way darker than I thought
Any sub $100 P&S cameras with a shutter speed readout?

Hi,

Can't think of any inside your budget limit. How about a repair to the XA or a Contax Tix? Or get lucky and see another XA for pennies, it does happen... The Contax is APS but will show and record the exposure for printing on the back of the print. Trouble is you have to look at the LCD on top to find out the shutter speed.

Any of Av fixed lens rangefinders, if they qualify as P&S.
Very few of motorized AF compacts do this and most of them are > $100. Ricoh GR (?) and Nikon Ti come to mind.

Konica C35 Automatic or one of its many clones.

Hi,

That reminds me that the Yashica 35-ME has a similar shutter speed and needle display in the view finder. Plus my old one had a very nice lens on it: a pity it's zone focusing but a range-finder in the hot(?) shoe cures that.

Regards, David

PS Don't confuse the Konica C35 (a CRF) with the AF version, which has a built in flash (for quick recognition).

There is also a C35-V, a scale focus version of the metal-bodied compact Konicas. I don't recall if it showed shutter speed in the vf, but it probably did, same lens and meter and all.
