Fuji GA-645Zi Repair: In Praise Of Fototech
I have a Fuij GA-645Zi that is well over 20 years old. Like so may of these cameras, mine had the dreaded "dead LCD display" problem. The issue is that Fuji used a flex printed circuit board to go from the camera body into the back cover where the LCD lives. Over several decades, that flex...

When I had Fototech fix one of my zi cameras Frank didn’t know that it was possible to make that specific repair.
My newest zi has an issue where when you shoot in aperture priority mode and rotate the dial the aperture jumps around sometimes skipping and going a different direction than I intended. Once I dial it to say, f/8 or f/11, it stays there. The LCD is working perfectly so far.

Called Nippon Photo. they don't work on the GA645zi. I might try one of the Oregon or Austin repair shops.

I am going to try and unscrew the stuck filter with the two filter wrench process, except it will be one wrench on the lens and another on the filter. If that works, I am going to live with the mild haze and a few fibers in the VF. Otherwise Blue Moon in Portland referred me to CAmeras Solutions, also in Portland . They work on these Fuji analog cameras. If anyone wants, its' Cameras Solutions 503-452-3907
Definitely, if the Deity does not support a good LCD for as long as I require, then definitely to Poland. Those guys are wizards.

Try putting the camera on the freezer for a few hours and then remove the filterI am going to try and unscrew the stuck filter with the two filter wrench process, except it will be one wrench on the lens and another on the filter. I had the same problem with a GA645i I once owned. Since sold, but not for the reason of this particular issue.
Try cleaning the battery contacts with a pencil eraser. As a second effort, use a drop or two drops of alcohol on a cotton swab. Go g-e-n-t-l-y, and don't saturate the contacts with alcohol.
This worked for me. The camera continued to function well for the year longer that I kept it, and to my knowledge is still working well.
I hope this will be useful to you.

Like the Minolta CLE...the contacts under up/down dial in the zi should clean up. when you don't what else to do...clean the battery contacts. If you are really Down Under maybe someone in Singapore or HK can fix.I had the same problem with a GA645i I once owned. Since sold, but not for the reason of this particular issue.

To chuckroast......the zi is not going in the freezer. Sent the camera to Stevens Camera Repair in LA (California that is) and they can saw it off. I just hope they don't injury the camera and lens mount.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did have the top off and was thinking of using deoxit on those contacts. I’ll try the battery contact first.I had the same problem with a GA645i I once owned. Since sold, but not for the reason of this particular issue.
