Anybody ever run across M4 (or M6J) top plates?

I have an irrational urge to put a brass top plate on my M6. Has anyone ever run across used top plates other than on eBay?

I'd like to try dechroming, soldering up the old SN, and painting one. M4 top plates will fit an M6, and a M6J top plate would have the advantage of frames to help keep my grubby digits off the glass.

Kim, thanks - I didn't see that auction when I searched earlier. I had forgotten about this guy. At $65, it may be worth the risk.

I'm planning on using a baking enamel that's quite a bit tougher than black lacquer like Leica uses - more like a Nikon black F or F2. I'm thinking I can fill the lettering on the front with solder.

I'm not so sure about his comment that the tops are unused, though. They look like they've been stripped to me...

I am not sure. It could equally be an age patina. It will have been around for a while.

I tried Don's site first - he always has goodies. I didn't see anything appropriate at the moment, though.

Email him. I contacted him a while ago about M3 top plates and he had about 5 for sale, all in varying condition. Not all of them were listed on his site.
