Anybody talking about the ZM 35mm Distagon f/1.4?

Nice...
which brings the question: how good is this lens in Nikon/Canon mount?
(assuming it will be the same optics)

It is a great lens no doubt, but it is also huge and heavy.

Despite also being a Distagon design I don't think it will be the same, rangefinder lenses have a different optical formula.

And I don't think it will cost less to its SLR counterpart, so I reckon over 1800$

I just realized that putting a 72mm lens on a Leica might be er....less than optimal.

I don´t believe it is the same "lens design" as the correspondent SLR lens with the same name (Distagon 1.4/35mm ZF.2/ZE).
The spectacular is in my eyes, it isn´t a Biogon ;)

A 35mm/1.4 ZM would be very nice. I’ve finally worked out a workflow for color cast correction on my M9P with the Adobe Flat Field Correction Plugin for Lightroom. And presumably this would be the first ZM that’s optimized for both film and digital M mount cameras.

Sorry, but Zeiss is a joke. I waited for this lens the entire year of 2013, and now we are in the last season of 2014 they finally decided they are gonna show up to their own party? A year late? I bought the Leica already.

More like two years.

And if their build hasn't improved over the initial ZMs - won't be touching it with a 10' pole.

The later badge of ZM build quality improves a lot compared to the initial badge. The last ZM 25/2.8 i bought build quality (in terms of focusing smoothness) is comparable to the MIG ZMs compared to the early MIJ ZMs I used.

My 50/1.5 Sonnar has been exemplary. I am not really in the market for another 35 but if the 1.4 works as well as my Sonnar I may consider it.

Come to think of it, the 50/2 Planar has also been trouble free with great quality.

The MTF's look mighty impressive.

Technically, it may be the best M-mount 35mm lens.

I would love to see it side-by-side to the Summilux and Nokton, to better assess its size

dang, toooo many NEW 35's to think about
35ultron... for min focus 0.5
35summarit... for aspherical glass
35zeiss ... for 1.4

i once met an elderly lady photographer on her way to ICP to develop a huge bag of film...
She stated the only focal point for her was 35 and she had five
hmmmm, beginning to understand her philosophy

ZE is the designation for the Manual focus Canon Eos mount lenses made by Zeiss.
The B+H page is not for the M mount lens....

Whatever way, the data of BH is not consistent:
- "ZE"
- "Zoom"
- under path "Rangefinder Lenses"

Nevertheless I think it is very probable, that BH at least intented to refer to the new ZM lens.

EDIT:
ZE is used at BH for all ZM lenses. So, except for the zoom attribute, everything is consistent.
The BH article number "ZE3514S" obviously means "Zeiss E 35/1.4 Silver" for M mount. Zeiss lenses for Canon have the suffix "ZEC" at BH.

Jacob
