I recently picked out a Leitz lens from a box of old microscope objectives because it looked different to the rest and, once I'd twigged what it was, because it's as close as I'll ever get to owning a screw-mount Leica (without involving lead-filled socks, anyway).

It's marked up as a Summar f=12cm 1:4,5, and is on a 37mm screw mount (ie a bit smaller than the camera mount). Apparently they are generally known as the Micro-Summar. I was sent the picture below, and was just wondering whether anyone here - surely the home of the Leica completist? - has a similar set-up lurking in a dark cupboard somewhere? It's impressive, isn't it?

I know squat about Leicas, but I do know that Leitz made a microscope model without viewfinder or rangefinder, and do my eyes deceive me, or is that an "ordinary" III of some sort atop the stand? Seems odd, if they made a special model for the job...
