My beautiful refurbished pradix slide projector was damged when my nephew who was helping me project slides knocked over the little table it was on. The only thing that broke was the heat absortion filter, which is a piece of 50mm square glass about 5.5mm thick made out of IR absorbing material to prevent you from melting your slides.

Anyway, this is a standard optical component that I can purchase, but I wanted to ask here first if anyone had an old broken Pradix or original Pradolux projector they are parting out? I would gladly purchase this piece of glass from you. According to my Pradix/Pradolux repair manual this heat absortion filter is in both those projectors.

For all you Repair Notes junkies, what broke on my Pradix was the heat absorbing filter. You can see which part by clicking here and looking at the photos is my Pradix CLA thread.

Turns out this is a standard optical component commonly available in the correct size of 50mm x 50mm square. The purpose of this device is to try and shield the slide carrier and slide itself from getting blasted by Infra Red wavelenth light and hence prevent heat buildup. These optical pieces come in three different grades K1, K2, and K3. Looks like the different grades have to do with the different filtering frequencies. K1 seemed to be the most common available and also the only one available in tempered glass for high heat applications so that's what I ordered.

The original filter was 5.5mm thick, but I found one at 5.0mm thick for $43. Click here for the PDF spec of what I ordered from Melles Griot (an scientific optical company).

I got my filter today and it pops right into place on my Pradix. So my projector is back in business and I will be using it soon to show my Dad all
the old slides he took in the 60s.

Repair Closed... but my wallet is definitely lighter, spent more on this than the projector and manual combined! Its my refurbished baby so it deserved the love.
