Leaving this weekend for SE Asia - Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia. I'll have a couple of days of free time in HCMC so if anyone wants to get together, let me know. We'll be in District 1, near the Ben Thanh market.

which days exactly are you going to be here? I am in HCMC, but will leave for central Vietnam on the 11th and plan to be back in HCMC on 16th.

Btw. every sunday morning, until around noon, there are many local photographers that meet around the Tasu coffee house in the Tao Dan park, the smaller section of the park which, coming from the city centre / Ben Thanh market, is to the right of Truong Dinh street

We're flying in on the 20th and staying until the 23rd before heading to Can Tho on our way to Cambodia.

Unfortunately we don't get in to HCMC until after noon on that Sunday.

PM me if you can meet up.

I should be back in the city by then. You would have enjoyed meeting the local photographers, some fancy to flash their gear, specially if it is a Leica ;) Shall PM you now, cheers, andreas

Just returned from there , and must say the only thing we enjoyed about Can Tho was the street flooding ! To only spend that short length of time in HCMC doesn't even allow you time to safely learn how to cross a street . What an intense city it is and that's a positive remark ! Prepare for the hunidity ( you'll know what I mean if it's anything like October ) Peter

Thanks Peter - I was actually born and raised in the Philippines so I'm familiar with the region's humidity and taking your life into your own hands when crossing the street. :) And, yes, I would love to spend more time in HCMC and Vietnam in general, but we're on a tight schedule (family stuff in the Philippines).

Have been in the Philippines for the past two weeks and have another six days before returning to the US. I have been hanging around Subic Bay for the last week as I wanted to see how the area changed since I was here in the early 1980's courtesy of the US Navy. Am stunned at the number of ex pats in the area.

It has been a relaxing week at the pool and a couple days of diving. Have not had scuba gear on since leaving Puerto Rico in 1998 so taking it easy as depth, currents etc could easily get me in trouble.

Have the M5 with me and need to shoot more away from the pool and the banca boats in the bay. Have tried to stay out of the sun between 10-2 as it is just out and out painful.

I haven't been to Subic Bay since I was a kid in the 70's so I'm sure it will be culture shock if I get a chance to go on this trip. I always try to maximize the relaxing bit every time I visit the Philippines, but this time I'll have to squeeze it in between family obligations.
