Anyone in Ann Arbor area?

How about a "shooting session"?
Maybe in detroit (but I'm really open to any idea...)

I have taken three pictures of trees in the last two months.
that puts me 33 frames and 29 rolls of tri-x behind my budget.
Around here,...well there are trees of course, and the squirells are nice, but I really feel street photography is kind of limited :)

i'm about 35 miles northeast of AA, michael. last saturday i was on dante's turf along caniff at the B&H bar to watch european football and hang out. how about a hamtramck session :)?

All that sounds great, and I'm in, although my limited English alllowed me to understand the following:

Turf - One's home location. Stomping grounds. Familiar territory.

Caniff - a street name.

Hamtramck - a town full of people of Polish descent which is completely surrounded by Detroit, known for having kept its ethnic identity intact for many years.

Don't live there anymore but I highly recommend you get to the Argus Museum. You do know Ann Arbor was the home of Argus, the most successful camera maker in the USA?

I live on the west side of the state (grand rapids), but last time I went to do some "street" shooting in detroit, all I got was the street....I saw 2 people the entire time I was walking around downtown. One secretary guard in a building, and one cop telling me I was loitering.

Maybe everyone was afraid of me....

Just out of curiosity, what's your criteria?
C3 was best selling camera in the world for almost 30 years. Google Argus and see. The Argus C3 was the closest thing to an affordable Leica made prior to the mass production of Japanese cameras. They also made many variations of the C3 including the C44 with interchangable lenses.

I'm familiar with the Argus models - I had several of the C4's with the Geiss America modification and the cool after-market lenses. However, I'm still unclear on your criteria vis-a-vis Kodak. I doubt that the C3 outsold the Brownies in their various incarnations. I would not disagree that some Argus cameras were outstanding from an image quality standpoint, especially with regard to value for dollar spent, but their build quality was not in the same realm as some of their more-expensive counterparts such as Zeiss, Leica, and etc. I see the Wikipedia entry, but there is no reference to their source for the 'best selling' claim.

chad, very nice pic ... even sans people. and michael, pm'd you back. and bill, thanks for the translating. sorry for the colloquialisms, should have known better.

Live in Farmington Hills.

Shot a lot during ST Patrick's day parade, but have not developed yet.
It's not NY, but there are still people to take pictures of...

I'm about 200 miles north but spend a fair amount of time in SE Michigan. If you want to take good people pics, try Eastern market on a weekend or any one of the may festivals held in downtown Detroit during the warm weather season. Try Mexicantown, especially along Vernor, for active, lively night-time shots.
