More than a week ago I posted about a Vivitar lens that I'd won on ebay - still haven't gotten it - and Russ offered to share his knowledge of Vivitar optics. I sent a PM and also replied to his offer on the forum. I haven't seen a single post by Russ since. I hope he's OK.

Russ has been posting on his name-sake list (Kiron Klub-Yahoo) all week. He's as feisty as always, just busy elsewhere (talking about his pet snake - LOL).

What's up, everyone? Joe, says that I'm being paged. I apologize for my absence. I've been very busy as of late. And no, Frank, not a new girlfriend. Actually, Sharona is keeping me busy with wedding shoots lately. She books them faster than my popper's (flash unit's) can cool off. I had to go out and purchase the SB-600, because of her. I recently used the GIII QL-17 for a wedding shoot. And for those of you that were promised goodies (film), not to worry, it's boxed up, just needs to be sent. What's been happening around here? What's this about a contest? I can write and shoot with the best of them... 😉 Are you keeping Harold in line? Gotta go for now. Putting together a wedding DVD of a recent shoot. It's damn easy $. I'll stop in more often, I promise! Thanks for the concern. You are a true family!!!

Welcome back! Vey nice shots. I love the window/available light shot...i can see why your so busy...you're good at what you do!
🙂

Hey Russ, good to know you're OK. I second the "nice shots". 🙂

When you can slow down a few minutes from making all that easy loot, I'd like to hear about the Vivitars. I just received an auto T4 Mount Vivitar 135mm f/2.8 lens in the mail today.

Yeah, give me the info on your Viv, and I'll tell you all about it. Has it arrived yet? You like it?

Thanks, Will. Actually, I don't have a burning desire to be a wedding snapper. But this year, Sharona (the Boss) is really pushing and selling it. She really enjoys it, and the $. She is really liking to shoot herself too. I think it would behoove her to have an "auto-focus" rig. What do you recommend, in the Nikon line? I do have a couple of high end Nikon poppers, that will work great on any Nikon body, but I'm not giving up the Vivitar 285's though. If I can relocate your #, I'll call you. How's your wedding snapology doing? I've done a couple of B/W weddings, and I love the B/W only approach. I still sneak in a roll or two of color, which always seems to please the clients later on. Gee, using fully manual flash for over 25 years, and I just now am getting into the sophisticated Nikon poppers, and really liking it. They're very accurate, well designed and built.

It hasn't even been shipped...... to me, anyway. The seller mistakenly sent the lens with a camera to the wrong buyer. A pre-paid shipping label was issued two weeks ago for the other buyer to send the lens to me and they haven't even gotten it to UPS yet. I'd PO'd about the whole deal but there's little I can do. The lens itself is a 28~105mm f/3.5~4.5 and serial number 77100838. If this is one of the desireable models, I'm beginning to suspect I'll never see it.

What can you tell me about it?
