Canon LTM Anyone use the Canon 50/1.2

I have a desire for a low light 50mm lens. I have a 50/2 summicron that is great but sometimes need an extra stop or two. The Noctilux/Summilux is out of the question due to cost, the Canon .095 seems viable but it too seems to go for alot. That leaves me with the Canon 50mm 1.2 or one of the 1.4 lenses out there. Anyone have any samples images or insight into the Canon or others? Sweeney? :D

from what i have read it's fairly soft at 1.2 but no real surprise there.

there is an ad on photo.net for a 'p' w/ a canon 1.2. the price seems a bit high for the pair but...we could do a 'joint purchase' if you decide on the lens.

Todd, I do not have the Canon 50mm F1.2; I do have the Canon 50mm F0.95 and 50mm F1.4. That F1.4 lens is sharp; and the F0.95 lens is better than people would have you believe. But the latter modified to work on an M-Mount camera is absurdly priced. Better to get a Nocti. If you can get a TV version of the lens and modify it yourself, that would be put the price closer to $200. I took a ganble and got mine for the Canon 7 at that price. It was a front view only on a BIN, showed the C-Mount adapter but no "TV" on the lens.

I would look at the F1.4 lenses. Also: do not rule out a Summarit. They are soft wide-open; but it is nice for portraits.

I have been uploading shots from the Nikkor 5cm F1.4. If you can get one at a reasonable price, they are quite good close-up and wide-open.

The problem is I have rarely met a lens that I don't like; each has their strong points.

Todd you might want to consider a Summilux. There may be one or two at really good prices now that Leica have released the new Summilux-M 50mm/f1.4 ASPH. The FS notices on the photo.net Leica forum might be a good place to keep tabs on...
