i'm wondering if anyone is using the samyang 16/2 on the fujis yet?
seems like a big/heavy lens, maual focus…24mm fov, cheper than the fuji 14!
i had the samyang 8mm fisheye for a bit and liked it…i'd like to get (someday) something wider than the fuji 18 that i now have and 24 has always been a favourite focal length of mine…
anyone have pics/comments?

I thought about it, but I really don't like manual focus on mirrorless. And it's huge!

not much choice out there if one wants a 24 fov…the fuji 16-50 zoom?

Yep, that's about it. I almost went that route too, but I had to be honest with myself... knowing I would rarely use it.

I have the 14mm Samyang on my 5D and the Voigtlander 15mm on my Bessa. I find that the quality of the Samyang is close to that of the Voigtlander. When it comes to size comparison, well, that's a little different…

i'm ok with the size of the fuji 14…i just wish it was a bit cheaper.

I love 24, too, so I'm interested as well!

No. I've thought about it, but I'm not sure I'd use it much. I did pick up a X-E1 for less than $400 the other day. I guess my next purchase would be a lens, but it might be the 60mm.

$600. difference in price!
i think i'd prefer a manual focus wide angle lens over a zoom...

The Samyang looks as big as the zoom though.

I got the 16-50mm zoom in the mail. I think it makes a nice 16mm f/3.5 lens if you ignore the zoom. It's light, and not much bigger than the 35mm 1.4 when at 16mm. I'm not sure if it will work out for me, but it appears to be ok.

that zoom is certainly the best route as far as money spent is concerned…i still might go that way…will have to wait till i hear what your thoughts on it are!!

Not a Fuji owner yet, but this has always bothered me for my Nikon crop body. I'd love a small 16mm, but there really are no options. I'd trade lens speed for price and size as well. I think I'd be pretty happy with a compact 16mm f/4, the closest I can find with that is a 17mm third party, but I bet that is not significantly wider than my cheap old 18-55mm... sigh.

If u are ok w/ manual focus and since u have a Minolta slr setup, have u considered a metabones speedbooster? They just started selling their Minolta version.
By the time u add speedbooster to the 24mm Minolta u don't have, not going to e as cheap as the 16-55 Fuji, but u get use all your Minolta glass on your Fuji w/ a stop better performance. The 24f2.8 Minolta would end up being essentially a 24 (.7 x 24 x1.5) f2.
I have a speedbooster for my Fuji to use on my Nikon lenses. Works great.
