Apple announcement at Photokina

I doubt they're looking at doing a camera ipod.. the big news in that arena is a widescreen ipod for playing movies and tv shows that you can now buy through itunes stores

it's probably 'just' the new Aperture.. but it generally has to be something innovative for Apple to make a special announcement

Strictly speaking, nothing in the wording of Apple's release says anything about an "announcement."

It could just be a press reception to promote the existing Aperture software and Mac hardware lines.

Apple does the same thing at the National Association of Broadcasters and other TV/film conventions on behalf of their Final Cut video product line. They typically have a big presence simply as an exhibitor, but don't necessarily announce new products for that channel.

Incidentally, since we've been talking about the Leica M8 in so many other threads, does anybody have any idea of whether Aperture will support its raw-file format? I know, the M8 saves raw files as DNG, and Aperture's specs say it supports DNG. But it ONLY supports DNG files from cameras which it also supports -- for example, it doesn't support Epson R-D 1 raw files, so DNG files converted from Epson raw files aren't supported either.

Apple held an event on the 12th where they launched some updates to their iPod line, iTunes7 with movies and they also announced something called iTV that's supposed to come out in January 07. I highly doubt that they will announce anything iPod related at Photokina.
As Shadrash says, according to rumors it's going to be updated macbooks and aperture.

version 1.5. I imagine they must consider it a significant upgrade to jump from 1.1 to 1.5. I would be interested to hear from someone who uses Lightroom beta and the current version of Aperture how they now compare.
