Approached by a for the first time. The RF influence.

I thought it would never happen. I've photographed with SLRs DSLRs and P&Ss and I've never been approached (other than to admire my backpack). The first outing for me with a rangefinder, St Pancras, London, discretely photographing the people photographing the station, and I have a japanese tourist praising my choice of camera. The guy was quite knowledgeable and asked me about the price and where to get one, and praised me for having a camera you had to work with to take pictures rather than firing off in auto mode. Nice to know someone out there appreciates my dedication to film. It can be a lonely life!

You'll find it works both ways.
When you see someone using a rangefinder, you'll find an irrisistable need to talk cameras to them. As happened to me recently when I stumbl;ed upon a nice couple using an M8 and a G1.

Other users are a rare sight but invariably nice people. 🙂

I was approached by an asian-looking (ja/ko/ch?) guy too in Moscow, when used my Nikon FE2 on the Red Square. But he didn't ask anything, he was sharing his own story with me. Was not that interesting, he bragged about how much gear he had before.
So I waited politely till he makes a long pause, and said that I need to go.

So experience may vary 😛
