I thought this is pretty cool:

"While the adapter is not fully rangefinder coupled, it will facilitate focussing much more than any other adapter. It will set the camera’s rangefinder to a fixed distance of three meters. You will not be able to focus variably by means of the rangefinder patch, but the 3m setting and usual distance scale-based focussing should help a great deal."

Sounds expensive and of questionable use. I don't see the advantage in having the camera's rangefinder patch set at three meters, as opposed to any other distance. How does this facilitate focussing? You'll have a means of ensuring that you're exactly three meters away from the subject, so you can set your lens to a fixed three meters and take pictures at exactly that distance?

One might just as well guess, or use an SLR, it's not like the Leica is going to be smaller with the SLR lens anyway, and the SLR will be cheaper, too.

I gather from the little I read that it is fixed at 3m and scale focusing, ie. guessing the distance. It is attractive to me because I am collectig Leica R lens as well.

Novoflex offers this as well.

Over the years I've made many types of adaptors ( I'm a toolmaker ) and sometimes considered making one for my Nikkor lenses to go Leica, but the issue of r/f coupling - or lack! - always puts me off. In the end, I always reach the decision to continue using the Nikkor lenses on SLR's and same with the good Leica lenses, after all - I have some very good scale-focus cameras already 🙂
