...i seem to be addicted to change or at the very least have an insatiable need to try out different combinations of gear.
i thought i had the perfect 2 kits, fast and slow, small and not so small...they both even fit into the same bag so i got another 5xb...
but i'm not lovin' the 35/1.2...can't seem to warm up to it. i know, EVERYONE loves that lens, but for me, it's like trying to fall for the girl that your mother likes best!
so it got me thinking...if i were truly honest with myself and had what i wanted only...
i could live with the 28/1.9, the 40/2.8 and the 50/1.1 plus i would add the m mount cv 15. (i miss the 15)
so, no slow 28 or 50 or the big 35.
i've been avoiding writing this all out cause, as it seems, after i write it i usually do it.
maybe if i lie down for bit...

Easy decision then I think! sell the 35/1:2 & buy the 15. Then you will feel complete again.
What is is about the 15 that you miss?

and sell the 28 and 50 as well...
the 15 is great on the rd1, like a 23mm lens, though i can't seem to pry the big 50 off the rd1 these days, and it's like a 75...go figure.

I am asking for first dibbs if you ever decide to sell the 28/1.9
Cann't help you with the 35/1.2. I did think you got great results with the 40/1.4 ....

really?
it would be the 3.5 on the block though...sorry.
i like the 40 sonnar and should be using it more and i guess if i ever felt the need for the speed, the fast 40 would be another good alternative.

To Light & Love ...
Well Joe
I had a similar scenario
W/ the 1.2 nokton ....
Everyone else took STELLAR
Shots with it but I could not
So Off it Went
And I have No Regrets
It sounds as if You are
just becoming more In Tune
With what You really want

yes on the 35 but different experiences with the big 50...it's my go to lens these days...the poor 2.5 just sits.

Is there anything wrong with trying?
Most of us around here are trying different combinations all the time.
From time to time, I find "true love" and stick with something. But most of the time, gear come and go.
Now what is it that you don't like in the 35/1.2? size?
I more and more consider ergonomics as critical, even at the expense of performance, and the huge chunk of glass of the noktons 1.1/1.2 is a deterrent.

I don't see a problem w/ a 28-40-50 kit, where at least one of the lenses is moderately fast to fast, and am leaning in that direction myself (w/ the lovely Rokkor 40 I bought from you, joe
). 40 can cover for 35; at least, I use 40 in situations where I'd otherwise be using a 35.
Did you sell that CV 40/1.4, joe? Too bad. You took some great photos w/ it.

nothing wrong with trying and learning...
the size of the 35 does not factor into it for me, i like the 28/1.9 and i love that even bigger 50/1.1 lens...the 35 has a glow to the highlights in some shots that i don't care for.

damn...i thought i was over this wanting to sell the 35 and then i just saw one for sale in the classifieds and immediately thought i should list mine!
i think i would be happier with my former 40/1.4...i really like the 40 on the rd1.
of course, i could always just try a 28/50 combo for awhile.
i wish my therapist would answer my calls...

the 15 is great on the rd1, like a 23mm lens
I can relate to that, I'm eyeing the Olympus 9-18mm lens for my E-P2. Wide angle is sweet. As long as it's rectilinear. I can't do fisheye... ugh!

Try the 28/50 combo for a while and see if you don't warm up to it...

me too, too scary and I don't have your stamina or motivation any more, back in the 70s and 80s I switched stuff a lot, and again when I first went on-line I got a bit of gear-paranoia but it seems to have passed now
I've been meaning to get a particular lens now for a year or two but can't be arsed looking for a good copy ....
