Instead of buying old flash units, I'm wondering if I can use my Minolta 3600 HS with my old SRT-101. I know the 3600 has no sync connection, so I would need a hot shoe adapter that not only has sync connection but also would fit both the 3600 on top and into the SRT101's cold shoe slot on bottom. And hopefully I wouldn't have to insulate the minolta's metal cold shoe since the PC cable would hopefully act to bypass any issues.
