i started to play around with the afc setting on my x-e1...the one with the big plus sign in the middle of the screen...and it seems faster to achieve focus than the afs setting...have others found this to be true as well?
i wonder how many folks use the afc setting regularly?

I was wondering the same thing. I have only tried it a few times, but went right back to AFS. What would be a situation where this mode would be beneficial?

i think continuous is used for more action oriented shooting...where the subject is in motion.
but it seems faster for general shooting as well. i imagine the battery drains faster as well.

Yea I use it on my D3 flawlessly, but in this camera it doesn't see quick enough for action.
I read that it does indeed drain the battery faster, especially on the zoom with IS on.

I for one don't like the C mode.
It does not allow you to set the focus point
The lens constantly hunts = battery drain and noise
The only time it is useful is if you want to hand the camera over to someone inexperienced for a quick shot. Then it acts as a point and shoot that they may be used to.
There are a few "features" on the xe1 that I just ignore and C setting is one of them.
