Availability of Double X (Eastman 5222) in Europe/France ?

I'm expected to move to Lyon, France, next month. I'd like to know if my favorite black and white film--Eastman 5222 Double X can be purchased in bulk in Europe, for delivery in France. How, where, how much?

Did you call Kodak? I believe they have offices in paris where they ship film out of. You can order over the phone or they can send you a blank invoice to fill out in your email. If you're a student and you email them a picture of your student ID you will get a very hefty discount. The discount i believe is good for up to 4 or 5 loads before they require a signature from your professor, which you are able to fax in to them (at least in NY that's how I did it). If you can find a short end place in france that's also good, however getting from kodak themselves isn't so expensive after the student discount.

I'm not a student, but there will be plenty of them around. (No faculty discount?).

If you happen to know the prices it would be helpful, enabling me to decide whether to buy it here in Taiwan before I leave or there.

Don't know the price exactly, but just give them a call. they probably even have an office in taiwan, just do a google search and then give them a call. they've always been incredibly helpful over the phone for me, and especially in person they are a great company to deal with (or maybe they were nice to me because i was spending thousands on film stock at the time). i'm sure if you order via email and know someone with a university ID you can figure out a way to get the discount... If you are faculty, just don't mention it and tell them you'd like the student discount, and scan your uni ID and email it to them.

If that huge roll of film is too big for you, let me know, I would very much like to buy some meters. I had asked Kodak in Germany about a price, but it was so high that I preferred to buy ready-made Tri-X cartridges instead because they were cheaper.

In Europe there is an alternative: Orwo film, a former east german brand. The factory still exists and produces it in 100 (Orwo UN 54) and 400 ASA (Orwo N 74). They results that I saw are impressive, they are very popular here among 8 and 16mm Kubricks. One meter costs one Euro, not too bad.
