B on my T and cable releases

I've just broken my umpteenth cable release. As always, the black outer cloth started fraying and teared near the plunger part of the release. Bad thing is I always use the longest available, and these come at a price. I'm now looking for an alternative that's more practical than the one shown in the attachment.. 😛

I remember having seen releases that consist of a small balloon and a length of tube/hose attached to the plunger. Now here's my questions:

1. Do they actually work?
2. Are they suited to keep the shutter open on B for a minute?
3. How long do they last?

Depends on the quality of the tube, and how carefully it is stored.

One small puncture leads to loss of air pressure and non-actuation.

A bump as i have too a bessa T.

Bought my deluxe cable release while in NYC at adorama, a bit expensive.
