OK so for some of my camera/lenses I want to be as compact as possible. So I thinking rubber hoods and no caps would be ideal.
1. Do b+w rubber hoods typically have filter threads? http://www.2filter.com/prices/products/bwhoods.html
I believe so, but I just want to make sure. I can place a snap on cap right?
2. Having a collapsible hood or even no hood would make my filter more susceptible to abrasion if I pull it out of my bag/coat/wherever. Are B+W filters fairly resiliant to scratches?

yeah B+w filters are scratch resistant.
I had one and went through hell and it handled it fine..
Make sure it's the right filter size to your camera..
I would prefer a bayonet mount hood specifically made for your lens and combine that with a b+w filter if i was you..
