Hi chaps! I am the proud bidder for a GX 40/1.7 and I am looking for a few pointers on a replacement battery for her. Since the PX640 is no longer available neither as the PC640A in Costa Rica could you suggest an alternative?

After trying the tinfoil recommendation from Greyhoundman, I eventually emailed Joe the YashicaGUY and ordered one of his adapters.

I like the adapters by seller nobbysparrow on eBay.
If you can get the 640 Alkaline batteries, they work fine.

I mailed the Yashica Guy and he doesn't manufacture the GX adapters any more. I will look into other adaptors too!

I bought two PX640A over eBay!

Those should work well. I am assured that the exposure system in the Electros is tolerant of battery voltage changes, and this matches my experience.

Done, two LX44's 1.5 Volts each on one side, within a transparent hose, and on the other side a screw whilst the PX640' arrive. Perhaps I should have bought the adapters on eBay, make more sense today.
Camera looks fine, albeit viewfinder is cloudy, speeds vary and all lights work, (maybe even better than my GSN). Perhaps I will send it next month to Mr. Hamas CLA. Hope to post some pictures soon.
Regards,
Robert
