I have a Rolleicord Vb which takes Bay 1 accessories. I’d like to use my 39mm filters that I have from another camera. I’ve bought one adapter from the auction site only to find out it’s really Bay 2, and I 3D printed one from a CAD file but it doesn’t have threading, the filter won’t engage even thought the bayonet part works.

Did this ever exist as am OEM part? I can’t find any reference to it which makes me wonder why not.

I have pretty nice filters. Really don’t want to have to buy different ones just for the Rolleicord. Do I have to ask someone like SK Grimes to make me one?

Well, it's not super convenient, but if you combined one of these with something like one of these, you could get it done.

The one firm I can think of that might have made something like this (and of very good quality) might have been Heliopan. I don't see anything like that listed on their site, but if they did make one in the past--not an unreasonable idea, being as that would allow you to use, say, Leica filters on a Rolleicord--it might be the best way to search.

There's also this item. You'd have to do some research, but it sounds like you might be able to use your 39mm filters by placing them inside this adapter and screwing on the front. They should, I believe, be just small enough in diameter to fit like a Series VI filter, although series filters usually didn't have filter threads on the back (or in the front), so I'm not 100% sure the retaining ring would screw in to keep it in place.

Beware the 37 to 39 step-up ring from this vendor. I bought two, and neither would accept any 39mm accessories. The thread seemed to be a different pitch. The vendor dismissed my complaints, and I didn't bother to pursue the issue, given the small financial loss.

Good info to know. There seem to be lots of other options for 37-->39 step up rings. I'd definitely, as I suggested above, see if I could find one made by Heliopan. They still have a great variety of such rings, they probably used to make many more options, and they are of excellent quality--solid brass, Leica filter compatible. They cost a bit more, but they're the best I've found--and I have several that I use regularly.

I know for sure there is a Bay I adapter that accepts 30.5mm filter. I have two of them, and they work great with my Rolleiflex T or Rolleicord Vb.

Ya, I do know you are talking about 39mm filter, but 30.5mm filters are so readily available. As shown, I use one red filter from my Ricoh GR1 series, and another from Tamron. Both works perfectly. One major advantage of using this adapter is that it is still possible to use the Bay I hood with this adapter, but not so if you use a 39mm one, or use another step-up ring.

I can't remember where did I get them, most likely from eBay.

I'm also skeptical of the adapter rings in Ebay. I'm now 2 purchases into this quest and have not achieved the desired goal. The first was a "Bay 1 to 39mm" adapter that's clearly Not Bay 1. And I have another where the "39mm" threads won't accept my 39 mm filter. Thread-pitch seems to be an issue. And I've 3-d printed it twice....and the result is a bayonet side that works properly but no threading on the other face. Sheesh!

As such, I'm reluctant to order more Ebay products that aren't what they are described to be. I think merchants, many abroad, are counting on the fact that no one will complain and try to send back a $17-25 dollar item because it doesn't actually fit. I may just see if I can have one machined.

I looked for a Heliopan product but couldn't find one. I'm stubborn, I don't want to have to buy more filters; the ones I have weren't cheap.
