BBC piece on photography worth reading

An excellent piece about a story I have followed with interest since it began unfolding. I find it interesting that I first became interested in this story because it involved a photographer. Over time, the fact that Giles is a photographer no longer has no bearing on the story. It is now all about a man coping with dramatic life changing event.

This young man is simply unbelievable.

He is a magnificent example of possibility and the ability of the human spirit to overcome the most horrific of traumas and obstacles.

And I see he carries his gear in a Billingham. 😀

Giles Duley is an inspiration.

He worked for one of the music magazines I used to oversee, we were all very shocked by what happened to him. His story is also a reflection of the fact that it's hard for good photographers to make a living. But we can all be humbled by his positivity and lack of self-pity.

It's great also that the recent Paralympics have pushed some of these issues to the forefront. (and also that the Chancellor who hired a private firm to try and withdraw disabled benefit from many competitors was so publicly booed).
