hey all. recently ret'd from beach trip w bunch of friends. shot 2 rolls of color 160, late in day with nice light. disappointed in prints and not sure if its ME or the processing.

problem - none of the shots had any sky color to speak of. my friends had nice skin tone and colors but zilch for the sky, which was nice and blue and just a few clouds. water in background nice color.

using voightlander r2m, 50 mm 1.9 lens. everything appeared exposed properly. shot first with asa set at 100 and then shifted to 200 as instructed.

any thougts. thnks

Since you were exposing for the people, the sky was blown out. You could try a polarizing filter to regain some of the blue of the sky and separate the blue from the white clouds.

Yup. It's simply a matter of exposure. And with extremes in exposure (like people's faces in shadow, and bright sky behind these people) you'll have to make choices. Either you over expose the sky for properly exposed faces, or you do it the other way around. With a pol filter you might be able to bring the extremes a bit closer but don't expect miracles.
