Recently , after 2 years I was gifted , not with my tired Pink Triangle record deck restored , but an elegant new Funk TT with my fave Grace f9e cartridge and added a brand new[ well, ex dem ,] stylish Quad Vena amp to feed my 1980s mini speakers [ LS35a meets original Linn Kan ] .

Did I rush to play my LPs ? Obviously I played a few favourites , but the point is that it's home and my Lps have validity again , I can look out for those 50p Lps in charity shops [ though they see to be creeping up in price ] and sort those I have .

This , despite severe hearing loss which generally dictates headphones .

It's like this with my Fuji X-Pro1 , bough new a couple of years ago at bargain price.
It was not that it had facilities that I would ever use , but that it is an exquisite , quality camera , reminiscent of my film days .
It was perfect on a one off holiday to Malaysia .
The 16mp sensor is all I ever need , as the style and handling are just a delight to experience .

This was brought on by the purchase of a new , well ex dem , Fuji X-T1 which echoes the delight in unboxing a new Minolta SRT decades ago , following on from the Leica Digilux 3 with it's retro rangefinder box body ...

I certainly don't need the X-T1 , but it reflects the quality and style which is familiar and comforting - the snapshot equivalent of the record system .

Maybe it's an ASDee thing - reflections of a past , but the £430 outlay for the X-T1 , is valid for me .

I like my two exquisite Fujis because of the quality and handling ... not for what they DO , the 7mp Digilux and L1 with a pair of Olympus lenses create the vivid colours and more than adequate IQ for a considered snap shooter .

Hmmm, the trouble with hi-fi is that one day you will run out of KT66's and then what can you do? OK, Leak's don't need them as matched pairs but it's a pita, just like cameras...

In my TTs I could change cartridges. So, it might be possible for OP to use less expensive one on 50p LPs.

I still use my Dual player and a gifted JVC player. I run them through my original (1969) Pioneer receiver. I never threw away any 33 1/3 discs, and play them all the time. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine. Great sound:

I just replace the spring in my Victor Victoria Phonograph Horn. The sound is so sweet because not a singe electron was involved in the sound reproduction.[1]

1. Apologies for the gratuitous sarcasm.
