Been looking for a second one of these - I love the first!
Seller in the States has one on eBay - 110518202074.
No bidders, but if I bid and win the seller insists on sending it insured at some exhorbitant price - or so I think.
That makes the whole prospective deal stupid, and lets me out.
So over to you lucky guys in the States.
Have a look!

Twenty US bucks is a lot for P and H but I often see far far worse on eBay. Its not uncommon to see sellers demanding $30US for even very small items and up to $50 US for a camera or lens. This is a deal breaker in almost every instance.

To make it worse some bums are unreasonable in their attitude too. A few weeks back I wanted to buy something small (a 52mm filter I think) on "buy it now" from one dealer for $15 (the buying price was steep'ish for a filter but I was willing to pay as this filter was a bit hard to find.) But the seller demanded, I think it was $30 US to post it.

Thinking maybe it was a mistake I emailed him and I asked why so much and offered that I was willing to buy it if his P&H charges were lowered to something more reasonable given the size and value of the item. I immediately got back a vituperous email filled with invective and abuse. Naturally I told him where to shove his filter and his attitude.

I see this more and more mainly out of the US where I am buying less and less. Especially for small parts which are available elsewhere and where especially in Asia the postage fees are either low or borne by the seller. Some sellers in USA are still reasonable and will match their P&H costs to the value and size of their sale items....others just adopt a flat minimum fee and tell you to get lost if you ask for something more reasonable. A few will change to a lower cost mailing option if you ask them nicely.

I have had them claim it's USPS fault as the Postal Service has a flat fee - but I do not believe this as some sellers will still post for much less than the kind of figures now being demanded. As far as I am concerned they can sell elsewhere as there is no point buying if the cost like this as you end up feeling ripped off.

shipping prices can be totally insane.
30 bucks for small items!??

and then, i can buy stuff from korea and china with free shipping that gets here faster than paying express prices from the states.

Talk about it... I ordered a LTM->M adapter from Heavystar a month ago, and I still haven't got it. A bloody month to travel up the coast from California to BC... Jeez.
Ordering another from China tonight. I'm sure it will get here first.

It's pretty simple really. Ebay takes a big slice of the selling price, but not the postage and handling. So some sellers jack up the P&H charge to compensate for the money that ebay takes off them.

Edit - I can understand a seller's concern to only send via a registered and insured service, as it is otherwise easy for a buyer to claim the item never arrived and get their money refunded by Paypal.

I got scammed once winning an ebay auction for $1 and then paid $70 or so for shipping but then they never sent the item. Oh well...

Wonder if anyone here got that case!
I'm really pleased with mine and the leather and stitching are excellent.
Not sure what camera it was made for but it was advetised for Leica M I believe. My Olympus OMs go in a treat, with a bit of space left over!

Seller has 96.8% positive feedback. Personally, I don't bid on ANYTHING unless the seller has well above 99%. I was not interested in the case, but just out of curiosity I checked how much the shipping would be since the seller is very close by. Despite the proximity, the shipping would have been more than the item sold for and probably about double the actual cost. So he's taking a 100% mark-up on the shipping.

International shipping with insurance from the US has gone up quite a bit over the last three years. I've lost money on shipping overseas many times. Now I just say $X.XX plus actual cost of shipping which seems to work well. But I say that if I ship without the ability to trace I can not be held accountable for delivery. I offer to take a picture of the item at the PO, with address and the receipt for the shipment.

I just got one from them (heavystar) and it only took a few days from CA to MN.
1 month does seem excessive but your Canada Post and customs really suck. I will sell there but never buy from Canada due to that very reason.
Hell, I used to almost be a Canadian when living within 90 miles of the border in MN.
