This is probably old news, BUT, I just screwed my Nikon DR-3 right angle/vertical finder onto my "new" R2a--It works! Great for low angle shots. Had to unscrew the R2a eyepiece first...The DR-3's are a bargain right now, and I'm happy it has a use now that the F3 is gone.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to drag out my finder and try it on my R2S!

Oh no! Out of luck with the R2S - it has a rectangular viewfinder..... 🙁

I'll bet there's an SLR vertical finder that will fit---Maybe for the FG? I';ll bet there's one that will work. Cosina is very clever in using/recycling parts and designs form other cameras they've built.

This is great news, PJ! It will also work on my Zeiss Ikon AND my Nikon FM3a. . I'm a happy camper. 😎

From what distance can you view through it? Does it enhance your ability to take stealthier street photos?

Where are the bargains to be found right now? They don't seem to be available new. The DR-4 is available for $110 from B&H and uses a $12 adapter.

Auction site, no adapter required. Search on' Nikon right angle'. You need to have your eye pretty close, though. I'm thinking for ground level shots of buildings, (or what have you), it will be great. Nikon also made a vertical finder with a much larger viewing area that fits the F3 cameras. These used to be about double the cost of the DR-3...That one could be stealthy for sure.

Edit: Wrong, I was thinking of the 6x chimney finder that takes the place of the removeable F3 prism.
