I was pleased to find someone selling new Bessa R2Cs but I have been sent two now with problems. The viewfinder appears to be mis-aligned vertically to such an extent that you cant be sure you have reached the focus point. The images 'seem' to converge side to side but there is always a double image up to down so you cant be sure.

So two questions. Am I doing something wrong? Can it be easily fixed?

I am very experienced using Contax/Kiev/Zeiss ZM cameras without problem.

I have an R2C and quite like it - it compliments my Contax IIa. The rangefinder patch is a bit off but not enough to effect proper focusing- really no big deal. I find that eye placement and looking through it at the proper angle definitely makes a difference, as obvious as it sounds.

The rangefinder needs to be adjusted. The R2C is just a Bessa R2 with a C mount, so alignment is adjusted in the same way as on the Bessa R2. You'll find several websites on the net that describe how to do it. I've adjusted several Bessa R2S cameras and it was pretty straightforward. From memory, vertical alignment is adjusted via a single screw. Rotate it in very small increments to make adjustments.
