Bessa R3A Exploded View?

Well, not really.. 😉 but I had an accident when a bottle of wine broked in the same bag as the bessa and it would be of great help to have an exploded view to go further in my cleaning of the rangefinder mechanism. 🙂

Seems to me that the camera should go to LOCAL/Big City GOOD repair shop and be dried out proffessionaly. and then re-lubed and adjusted. No telling were a drop of wine can end end up. And may damage a circut down the road when least expect it, and at the wrost time too!

I understand the mindset of "Fix it myself", but for liquid damage, I'd take to a Pro.

JMTCW mind you

Thanks and I´m aware of that but Robert White recommended me to send it to Cosina in Jpn to do the cleaning which sounds quite expensive.. unfortunately they did´nt knew about any repair shop in Europe who would take care of it..

I see this as an experiment and maybe it works, maybe it dont. In any case I gain interesting insights in the rangefinder mechanism and I have good help from a brother who works with fine mechanics. 🙂

Well, **** happens.. I better be more careful and not store wine and cameras in the same bag next time.. 🙄

Good luck. Maybe you can find a repair manual to use. it should have exploded views. Sounds like a interesting project to undertake. I Googled "Bessa R3a Repair manual" and no help. Keep use informed on how it goes.

If you managed to get it that far (covers off) without losing or damaging anything, then you are probably as good as most anyone with the documentationless bessas. You may find somewhere some service literature for the leica CL, from which the bessa R finder was derived and improved upon, but the R3a is even more refined, so the leica literature may not be all that helpful after all.
Just take notes and/or digital snaps as you go so you can get it back together, and we'd like to see any more photos of the operation here!

Someday it would be nice to have a sticky thread showing the rangefinder alignment screws and procedures for all the bessa variants, and any pictures of the rangefinder screws with the top shell off will be a great help.
Wine is not as bad as a sugar-and-acid-laden carbonated soda!

Thank you for the advices. I will keep you updated of how the work proceeds..

The wine remnants seems to be mostly restricted to the rangefinder glasses and mirrors with small signs of oxidation of some electronic contacts although the electronics works fine. I will try to clean the contacts and then I concentrate on the rangefinder mechanism.

The camera is fairly more complicated than an e.g. eos due to the mechanics and complicated rangefinder but I don´t think this is an impossible mission. 😎
