It looks like quite a few of you have been to Egypt and I'd love to get your film suggestions before I go. Right now I usually use Fuji Pro 160, 400 and Ilford Delta 100. Please let me know if you guys think that set-up is way off. I plan on taking a dozen rolls of each.

PS. For all those who posted the scary **** about ultra fine camera eating sand, deathly motorcycle rides in Cairo and your Leica's trying to swim after a boat sinking on the Nile....Thanks!! LOL.

The absolute best film for any trip is the one you know best. For me, that's HP5+ or Tri-X. Shot this just before getting on a fellukah to "cruise" the Nile.

I'm in Israel, so the light is pretty similar. This time of year it's getting softer, but still count on bright, harsh light most of the time. I usually stick to low-speed, low-contrast films: either Fuji 160S or Kodak 160NC would be my film of choice for daytime shooting.

At night, the light's just like everywhere else 😀

There's no such thing as a "best" film, let alone one for Egypt. You just have to know what you want to shoot and choose accordingly. Inside the pyramids, for example, it's extremely dark. Outside in the desert, it's extremely bright.

I would give you a tip-- make sure you have filters for your lenses, and minimise lens changes. It's extremely dusty in Egypt.

And bring plenty of baksheesh.
