Best non-leather straps?

Artist & Artisans Silk Strap.

When the camera is out of the bag it is in my hand with the soft silk strap wrapped around my wrist. It works well for me.

Leica strap is the best imho.

Totally agreed. The Leica straps have the best attachment mechanism I've ever seen, they are light and supple, and in wet weather they don't hold water.

I cut the rubber pad off of my Leica straps by scoring the rubber section with a single-edge razor blade.

BlackRapid R-Strap (whichever version-number they're currently using). Much easier on the neck than a neck-strap.

upstrap they have some new models. I've tried most on my M and back to the original one I like the fact that you can change the length of the Leica one quickly.

I use the old Nikon nylon straps (the yellow and black ones), which I customize by removing the adjusting buckles, and adding a strip of Velcro to the center, which mates up with the Velcro on the epaulettes of my vest for a positive grip that never slips off my shoulders regardless of the weight of the camera/drive/lens.

Leica nylon or Nikon AN-4B are on all my 35mm. Secure, simple and stay out of the way, most of the time.

+100!.... just picked up one from the RFF classifieds for $70 and I love it better than anything I have used since 1970!

Should have done this long ago.

The very cheapest Domke, that have no quick release. Or the original Leica straps.

A strap is a strap. Should not cost and arm and a leg.

+1 on the Nikon AN-4B.

Elegantly simple and strong.

Also inexpensive. Which is to say that it's in no way "exclusive." Which may ruin it, depending on your priorities.

I'd also recommend the Leica strap. At least for Leica M cameras.
Very light and soft, easy to wrap around your wrist, very durable, feels secure over the shoulder.
