I've just moved to Canada from Ireland, and I'm wondering where is the cheapest place to buy Tri-X 400 35mm? How much should I expect to pay, or any advice in general? I am in Sarnia, ON for the next month or so, but will then be moving to Toronto.

There is no re-branded TMax film.

I'm not a fan of blanket statements. If you're diligent, you can find deals in Canada that avoid the sometimes-heavy shipping charges from out of country dealers.

Some good deals in the US, for sure. Being in Toronto or area, you're close to the major suppliers which is to your advantage.

Supposedly Kodak has changed distributor in the last while. Prior it was handled by Zippo Lighters!!! The prices are outrageous - $6-$7 a/roll.
I buy from Freestyle and in bulk. If you buy a larger quantity, the shipping cost is less/roll. In February this year I bought 1000 rolls of Arista Premium 400, some was picked up by friends (about 400 rolls) and in the end, including shipping and taxes came to $2.79/roll - and that was with FedeX overnight (80 lbs).
I would love to support local business - with with a saving of more than $4/roll - I could not afford it! I took the difference and wisely spent it on a new Leica lens (first new one in 6 years) - the Super Elmar 21f3.4. I thought it was a good rational!

Anyone know cheap Tri-X prices in europe?

Is there even Arista Premium 400 in europe?

macodirect.de currently has them for 3,48 EURO per roll if you buy 40, plus add shipping. I bought some for the same / similar price earlier this year. In comparison I saw single rolls in a store in Luxembourg for 6.02 € today. 😱

Cheers,
Rob

Yea I bought that already, it's nice, but then I see it's like $3.5 something in the US, what the hell 🙂

And Arista Preium is $2.4 :-(

The Arista Premium 400 looks like a good option. From the research I've done online, most people agree that it's either Tri-X or damn close enough to it that you can't tell the difference.

You could think about RPX 400 (Rollei) in fact rebranded Kentmere films. Also available in 120 roll film. Together with the RPX-D developer (made by SPUR) you can also go till iso 400-1600. Or buy cheap Kentmere 100/400 in UK.

In Holland RPX100/400 is sold for Eur. 2,45, even cheaper then Fomapan.

Hi Lumpy. I moved to Canada a couple of years ago and the prices for film here are not that cheap. Although you can get film cheap from BH Photo in New York and they ship ground for not much money and sort all the border taxes out etc.
Where are you in Canada?
