I just watched the film this morning. Smith became one of my favorite photographers long ago and remains so. I was briefly in touch with Smith's late biographer, Jim Hughes, a couple of years ago. I wonder if Bill has written at any length on his time with Smith or if there are other recordings of Bill speaking about him. what is in the film is valuable but brief. Those of us who aspire to the high standards (understatement) Smith set for himself, can always benefit from those who knew him and, difficulties and complexities notwithstanding, feel no need to try to reduce such genius to something more ordinary, more comfortable.
