At a camera store, I saw an almost mint 135/3.5 black Canon lens. It also had the canon UV filter and a cap. There is no wear on the blades. The exterior finish looks perfect.

The price of the lens with an M adapter is $125. The price without the adapter is $125. The manager said, "What am I going to do with the adapter? Plant it and grow new ones?"

Is this a good lens? Is this a good price? It has been sitting in the used Leica cabinet for at least one month.

If it is not good or at a good price, why is it a shelf queen? It has to be at least 35 years old.

I am not worried about focusing that focal length, I have FED2s, Canon 7(s) and a Canon IV.

Thank you,

it's a very good lens and a very good price.
if you don't want the adapter, i'll buy it from you and you're price gets even better.

i got one off ebay in great shape for 99 bucks, but no caps or adapter.
and that was a good deal.

The black 135mm f/3.5 Canon is supposed to be better than their earlier models.... according to what I read. I have a black model but have yet to give it a fair workout.

The black one is good, but the chrome one is optically the same and looks more "classic". I have both, and a black viewfinder. Both were cheap. With M-adaptor for 125 USD, a strong "buy"...

This is an excellent lens that can be bought for a relatively low price. The Nikon 135mm/3.5 looks nicer and sells for a higher price, but I doubt it that it is sharper.

To all,

Thank you for your comments and advice. I bought the lens today. I'll give it a try this weekend.

I've already sold the adapter for $40, so it is only an $85 lens!

I've checked it against the Canon Museum. It is the mark III model, the last of the black 135s. It looks as if it has never been used!

Thanks again
