My first black and chrome Leica that isn't a conversion.

Body S/N 215XXX, lens 278XXX.

I don't know much about black and chrome cameras and assume they would confined to Standard, II and III in the later '30s when chrome cameras were also available. Does anyone have more info?

Lovely camera, Michael!

All I know is that black/chrome cameras were mainly exported to the US. If that is the case with yours, it shoud read somewhere "Made in Germany" or "Germany".

Erik,
No 'Germany' anywhere and the baseplate is auf/zu not open/close so I'd suggest not export. (Lens is in metres but I wouldn't base any conclusions on that).

I'm assuming that the camera is 1936. I believe III production ended in 1939.
Maybe chrome knobs were an option in these later years and nickel was still available? Anyone have a catalogue from '36 to '39?
